Barbs Marshall's biological clock is ticking and decides she wants to have a baby. Problem being that she is currently separated. Never mind she thinks, and invites her ex-husband over for dinner. As she uses her charm on him, he lets her know that he is now in love with someone else and the happy couple are also expecting a baby. With the easy option closed to her, Barbs, in desperation, plucks up the courage to ask one of her male friends Brendan to help her make babies. This might not be so much of a problem except that Brendan is gay !

Scotland's top playwright Liz Lochhead is at her best in this humorous sitcom. The one liners she writes for her supporting characters almost makes the lead role pale into insignificance. At first I thought Barbs's mum, played by the naturally funny Margaret Welsh, was going to steal the show ! "He's right thon way" she exclaims when discussing Barb's gay friend Brendan, nicely camped up by Darran Lightbody. However the whole cast came into their own at various stages with their subtle characterisations. Louis Morgan Weir who played Barbs Marshall, did a great job in the lead keeping the pace of the performance tight and maintaining her audiences interest as she went through an emotional roller coaster to have the baby she's always wanted. Did she have the baby ? Who was the father ? Well, you'll have to go and find out I'm afraid.
